December 2011 - this site and all our other proxy related sites now use a Blockscript which blocks those that seek to block this site and protects proxy owners and users from unwanted and dangerous traffic robots and spiders.
January 2012 - The most used proxy software today is called Glype. In the last week Glype 1.3 has been issued. It fixes a number of known bugs. Feedback I have seen suggests is faster than the old version. Certainly looks forthwhile updating for your proxy site.
February 2012 - Please note that Glype 1.4 proxy script is now available. It now has RC4 encryption, URL parsing errors fixed, work done to stop sites breaking out of the proxy and several privacy features added.
May 2012 - To help cover costs this proxy list now requests payment for proxy submission. The submissions are $1 each (pretty cheap given quality of the traffic - based on last seven days 51% is from the USA) with discounts for bulk purchases.
May 2012 16th - Have removed the $1 coupon option as Paypal takes a full third! Better buying with the other coupon discounts options anyway. Remember for this Aussie Proxy list - excellent traffic at only 1.00c per submission!
Aussie Proxy Information
Aussie Proxy is both about proxy sites and information about how they are used, how they work, what are the best type, who uses them and why they are used.
What is a Proxy?
At the moment we are talking about web proxies i.e. the type that are listed on this proxy list. Basically they are a piece of software that sits between your browser and and the site you want to access. This is necessary because wherever you are situated - at work school or home you have an IP address. An IP address is almost literally your actualy physical address - i.e. from that IP third parties can see where you are. An example would be say Iran. That country restricts access to say Facebook for political reasons. It therefore blocks all the IPs in Iran from seeing Facebook. However using Proxy sites, you get another IP say from the USA and therefore you wont get blocked.
